on the SPOT

Sorry for my awfully cluttered first ever post and very ironic to this next one; because, actually, this is a work-related post. Oh well, I just got too ecstatic the other week because of so many blessings pouring down like raindrops after the long summer heat. haha. So, here it is, a picture of the gift certificate I got from the company after being named one of the Spot Awardees for July. Yay!

Hello happiness! As it may sound too cliché, I still have to say that I was surprised since I’m new in the company and a lot of my office mates have also been working really hard. Actually there were three SPOT awardees for the month: Kristel, Kuya Arbee, and I. We all work with the New Jersey Administrative Code (NJAC). Our manager explained that we deserved the award because of our hard work in trying to keep up with the currency of our jurisdiction. This may sound too confusing but really it’s just about us running late in currency and chasing the deadline as we slowly kill ourselves in the process. I even ended up cutting my own hair, then getting another haircut and finally deciding on the shortest haircut I’ve sported in the past 3 years because of the amount of workload. Define stress.

Although our manager still gave other reasons for giving us the award, I think our team really deserved it. Actually, I even joked that I was only included as one of the three awardees since I am part of the NJAC team, and it would be a bit insensitive if I wasn’t given the same recognition. But, hey, I might as well give myself some credit this time. After all, I didn’t laze around during those days even if I was still a trainee. Hihi! :P

By the way, wondering where this GC went to… FOOD. Yes. FOOD. Kuya Arbee, gave his GC to the team, alongside others who received other awards. I thought for a split-second but I realized it would be so self-seeking of me to keep that 500-worth gift certificate. So yes, I decided to also give my GC for a team lunch the following day.

Our team (ADC) indulged in a diet-cheating lunch last Friday, devouring platefuls of sisig (which was utterly delicious), lengua, grilled tilapia and a healthy pick of chopseuy. We also greedily savored a pistachio-flavored ice cream. Thanks to my officemate, Cess, who incidentally, chose my favorite ice cream flavor. And to top the gluttonous meal, a Red Ribbon cake was also there ready to be consumed, in celebration of my other team mate's birthday and mine since we are the only July and August celebrants. Well, too early for August I guess, but cake is just a heavenly piece for a sweet tooth like me.

Thank you ADC! And congratulations to all the awardees and the newly-promoted team mates. I think it just lacked one small divine yet intoxicating thing…WINE. Hahahaha!

So, there, I hoped that this would be a short post but oh well… Who knows when I’ll get another award from work. haha! And to quote one of my favorite "The Devil Wears Prada" lines: "To jobs that pay the rent!" And to better moments and happy times. CHEERS! ^___^

waiting on my world to change

Life's been challenging me with a lot of things lately, mostly office-related. However, I have, inevitably and, for the most part, unwillingly come to grips with the fact that I am a grown up and must act like one.

But being a grown-up is not just about learning to tie your own shoelaces or cooking your own food or even paying your own bills; actually and for a fact, it’s waaaaay more than that. During the past seven months, I’ve been living alone and working my ass off so I won’t have to ask my parents to feed me after I finally got a degree. I’ve learned so much about decision-making, budgeting and even loving solitude for all the most profound reasons I discovered in my very own pockets.

But then, as I always do, I get bored with my job, and recently, my non-existent social life. This may sound too dramatic but I guess you have to ask yourself sometimes. I kept thinking whether this is the life I wanna live as a 21-year old fresh grad. Well, obviously, the answer is NO. I want to do other things, meet other people, do crazy stuff or be sublime, bizarre and hilarious. I always have too much adrenaline even after my work shift ends.

And so, I decided that I should do this one step at a time. Since my work doesn’t usually bother me anymore once I get out of the office, I thought of things I could do which will somehow tingle my interest and at the least, will make my life now a little crazier (or so they say).

I earlier planned on studying a new language...Korean, perhaps, because recently I’ve been so fascinated by Korean culture and also, I know more Korean words and phrases now than Japanese. I also wanted to try cooking different cuisines and somehow I managed to pull off some Filipino dishes without burning anything and without hurting my pride, or worse hurting myself from a knife cut. But in this time and age, money is business as serious as a heart attack. So I decided to kick off with something free and in a way will also liberate my ideas, well-formed or not.

So, here it is…a new blog! Actually I’ve made this a year ago, I guess, but then Tumblr humored me with its hilarious posts, funny pictures and at times inspiring quotes. Although I still have my Tumblr account and also been updating it lately, this new blog will try to be mostly serious, peculiar at times and hopefully sensible and witty in between.

Soliloquy, by the way, means a dramatic monologue that represents a series of unspoken reflection or simply, the act of talking to oneself.

Yes, here I am, talking yet again. So, read on and I hope you always get something helpful from my posts. Happy reading!
